I chose this topic because social networking websites today have heavily influenced the lives of youngsters today, especially teenagers. My primary focus will be on Facebook and Myspace. There are several issues and topics I would like to touch upon in this paper:
Teenage statistics for social networking websites – For example, on average how many teenagers have such profiles? How much time to they spend online on a daily basis?
Teenage Privacy needs: How open are they in revealing their personal information? Would they add random strangers as friends? Why or why not? Would they use it as a means to find dates and form relationships?
Teenage cases: Criminal cases involving teenagers and social networking websites including rape, pornography and sexual harassment
Teenage Freedom of Opinion: How openly would they support social causes? Are they willing to express their opinion freely online? Are they afraid of being tracked down?
In my project, I want to individually focus on all these areas in detail, privacy and criminal cases being my favorites.
